This page explains how to review ULIP return assumptions. It is a calculation guide with no interactive ULIP calculator. A generic investment-growth figure cannot represent a particular policy’s insurance cover, charges or benefits.

Separate premium, charges and invested amount

Record each premium and its date. Use the policy documents and the insurer’s benefit illustration to identify the amount allocated to investment and the charges applied. Keep the insurance benefit separate from the projected fund value.

A charge-only arithmetic example

If a hypothetical ₹1,00,000 premium has an assumed ₹2,000 deducted before investment, ₹98,000 remains: ₹1,00,000 − ₹2,000. The ₹2,000 is an example, not a quoted ULIP charge. Further charges and their timing can affect the balance.

Compare assumptions consistently

A useful projection needs premium timing, the assumed fund return, the deduction schedule and the policy’s applicable conditions. Compare several scenarios using the same dates and assumptions. Market-linked growth is uncertain; an illustration does not guarantee a maturity value.

For a simple investment-growth illustration, the separate lump sum calculator allows you to change the amount, assumed return and period. It does not model a ULIP’s insurance benefits or policy charges.

Confirm product-specific payout, surrender, eligibility and tax conditions from the applicable policy documents and current official guidance before relying on a projection.
